Participation of Blue Collar employees in surveys

Blue collar employees are any employees who mainly perform manual work in a company.
They are in a non-bureaucratic environment – for example, on the production floor or on the sales floor – do not have an email address and thus usually do not have direct access to the company’s digital internal processes.
In surveys where participation is enabled via links distributed by mail, alternatives are needed to include blue collar employees.

To enable employees without an e-mail address to participate in a survey, we offer several options.

Anonymous participation

  • Participation in a survey is made possible through a link that is made available to blue collar employees. This works…
    • … via terminals in the production hall or the sales floor ( e.g. via kiosk mode)
    • … via your own devices, e.g. your own smartphone, which can be used to scan a printed QR code
    • … via integration of the link into an employee app.

In the case of anonymous participation, it is not possible to track participation; for example, multiple participations cannot be monitored. Due to the lack of information about the participants, the evaluation possibilities remain limited.

Participation by code

  • Participation in a survey is enabled via a link and assigned codes.
  • Again, this works …
    • … via terminals in the production hall or the sales floor ( e.g. via kiosk mode)
    • … via your own devices, e.g. your own smartphone, which can be used to scan a printed QR code
    • … via integration of the link into an employee app.
  • In contrast to anonymous participation, the personalized codes enable the assignment of participation to a specific person. Thus, it is possible to control who participates.
  • Anonymity and evaluation options are comparable with participation via personalized link.
  • Analog communication of feedback via managers and the HR department to Blue Collar employees is vital for this mode of participation to work.
