Overview: Question types in the template editor

If you edit a topic or create a new topic in the template editor in the “Topics & questions” tab, you have the option of adding various question types (see gray area at the bottom right).

Scale question: A scale question offers the possibility of measuring agreement or disagreement between two poles. Typical poles here are “agree” or “disagree”. Traditionally, a 5 or 7-point scale is used so that respondents can differentiate their position. There is also the option to insert a “cannot answer” field.
We recommend using the same scale for all scale questions in a template. The standard scale of the template can be adapted under “Rules”.

The scale question is the most frequently used question type.

NPS question: An NPS question is used when asking about the likelihood of recommendation. The concept originates from customer satisfaction, but can also be applied to employee satisfaction (eNPS = employee Net Promoter Score).
In the scale, respondents place themselves at a number between 1 and 10; and all answers from this question are then added together to form the so-called (employee) Net Promoter Score, which reflects satisfaction.

Open question: In an open question, respondents are not presented with answer options, but can formulate their answer themselves in text form. It is used, for example, when you want to obtain detailed opinions or assessments. It can be more difficult to analyze the answers to open-ended questions, but they can provide valuable insights into the thoughts and opinions of respondents.

Single choice question & multiple choice question: This question type is a question in which respondents can make a single or multiple choice from a limited number of possible answers. The answers are usually predefined to allow easy analysis and evaluation of the data. This type of question is often used in surveys and questionnaires to collect information quickly and effectively.

Text matrix question: A text matrix question is used to ask a large number of questions on a specific topic, with the answers arranged in a matrix. The questions are usually similar and respondents have to fill in their answers in a table. This type of question is often used to gather information relating to different aspects of a topic.

Text: This field is not a question, but offers the possibility to insert a text. This text can contain information or additional descriptions for the respondents. Please note that the text entered here will not appear in the reports.

(Special feature) Filter question: A filter question is asked before a specific question that only affects respondents with certain answers and sorts out respondents who are not affected by the question. These continue with other questions, while the respondents with the corresponding characteristic are directed to the special question.

All question types can be turned into a filter question. Instructions for this can be found here.
